Save Elephant Hill works to preserve and protect Elephant Hill, a 110-acre hillside open space area located in the community of El Sereno in Northeast Los Angeles.
"Save Elephant Hill has effectively organized residents and partnered with legislators and public agencies to protect access to open space in El Sereno. Building on park advocacy victories at Taylor Yards and the Cornfields, the organization successfully defended El Sereno residents from outside development interests that cared little about their wellbeing. Save Elephant Hill’s work has ensured equitable environmental protections and increased green space for the residents of this historically neglected community." - Ed Reyes, Los Angeles City Council, District 1, 2001-2013
"The climate and biodiversity crises are upon us and we need organizations like Save Elephant Hill that are making real change on the ground. They are working to protect land in a highly urbanized space for the benefit of people and wildlife. Save Elephant Hill is connected with local communities and successfully working to protect important habitat for native species." - Kelsey Jessup, The Nature Conservancy
"We share a common purpose with Save Elephant Hill in safeguarding sensitive landscapes and restoring areas ompacted by illegal OHV activity. We're pleased that our grant program has been able to support MRCA in promoting education, outreach, and responsible recreation practices on Elephant Hill." - Sarah Miggins, Off Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Divisionof California State Parks
